Why should you do it?
MUN is not any normal Public Speaking skill. You will have to role play as an ambassador, envoy and delegates, which means you are learning the highest level of public speaking efficiencies. And also the highest level of rules and regulation while talking to other delegates which teaches you to on how to behave diplomatically with people. This world is all about communication, the more you can communicate, the more you become an expert in that field and eventually leading to self improvement. So to be value for yourself or your boss or for your company or anything you do, this is the must have skill you should develop and this is best provided by MUN.
It will help you shine in your professional life. An academic certificate can get you any job, but to thrive in that job you have to stand out from the rest of them. They have to show something unique. What is it going to be? That’s when having some experience of participating in conferences like MUN helps.
MUN is the biggest opportunity to build a network and to expand your networking skill. Importantly you also have multicultural exposure. In an International MUN conference, there are delegates from different countries from various religious cultural backgrounds. Students get to meet and interact which allows them to understand and empathize.
If students are lucky enough, they get to meet the real heroes, the Actual Ambassadors and representatives of UN. Meeting with them and hearing their stories on what is happening in UN and also around the world. This helps them understand the importance of diplomacy in maintaining world peace and security.
It increases the awareness a student has of the surroundings. They learn to appreciate different perspectives. Discussing a particular agenda makes them an expert on the topic because it’s discussed over four days and also hearing different countries perspectives.
There are Segments in MUN called “Socials”, where students are given to express themselves in any form of art. It is also an event to socialize with other delegates to build the foundation of friendship.
